Truly Rockin'!
Youw. Last night Gobling rehearsed at a new place, just for the sake of trying out- Rockin' Studio in Pasir Gudang, owned by our good friend Bob, the guitarist from grindcore band fame Damokis.
We were first admitted entry into Studio B, and found out that the equipment inside were not to our liking, so we switched place to Studio A- and my, my, what a surprise! There we were, looking at 2 Marshall amps with cabinets as big as we can see! One was a JCM 900 and the other was a JCM 2000 Triple Lead. They only got a Carvin amp for bass, but we'll get to that later. Drums? If I am not mistaken, it was a gorgeous metallic-pinkish-red-purple Pearl set. Looked geek, but sounded great. The jamming room was small and a bit packed.
Zaihas took the JCM 900- and what a pain in the ass it was for him to try to get his guitar tone to come out from the amp! He practically cursed and swore until it was decided that he should take the JCM 2000. Now this JCM 2000 was easy as hell to set up. Farique took the JCM 900 and started tweaking- the resulting tone was impressive, to say the least. So now Zaihas has to learn how to properly tweak a JCM 900- he was never good with setting up amplifiers in the first place, by the way. Sigh.
Haris tried out the Carvin bass amplifier- surprise again! His Fender bass tone came out rumbling heavy and crystal clear! Carvin amp never sounded that good judging from our combined experience, so to actually hear such tone coming out of it was really awesome. As for Muhairi, he was used to the setup there (he jams there with Damokis frequently), and had no problem with the superb Pearl set. PA system for microphone was clear and loud too, in fact, it was too clear and loud until Hassan (he tagged along with us) was forced to sit further away from the speaker to avoid hearing loss. All was set to go.
Gobling jammed for 45 mins, took a 15 mins breather, and continued for another 45 mins. Played the following songs in the first session:
1) With Or Without You (U2),
2) Mello,
3) Domination,
4) Cowboys From Hell,
5) Mister Calcium,
6) Good Sermon, and
7) more Mister Calcium.
Took a breather, and jammed out Mister Calcium in our 2nd session until we were satisfied- we need to play it in Asian Beat this Saturday, you see, so the more rehearsal, the better.
Jammed for 1 hour 30 mins + 15 mins breather, and it only costed us RM37! Cheap, considering the quality of the equipment used.
All in all, kudos to Rockin' Studio for such superb setup and service! We hope to be there again!

The studio was stuffy. No offence to Rockin Studio PG, its just that im asthmatic so im allergic to the old carpets on the wall. To much dust and no air circulation. I got admitted to the penawar clinic that night after an asthma attack. Carpets on walls are bad for my health.
Uh-oh (Teletubby style). Sorry to hear that man. Hope you get well soon for the competition. Hmm, let me talk to the studio about the carpeting. Maybe a mask can be of use.
Taman Mawar, right at the end of the shop houses row. Upstairs. Super high quality equipment.
Fawaz, you better perform well tomorrow...
Who said we are not playing in Countach anymore? We pay to jam by default, so we can jam anywhere we want and need. That "power trip" you talked about, how can you explain it to Gobling? We got invited, we played to support them (for free nonetheless), and this happened. So tell me if you were in Gobling's shoes, what will you say? At least leave us the right to comment on it- it spoiled our show that night.
Current didn't support it? All the other bands use about the same amount of power, so can you explain to us how the incident only happened to Gobling that night?
We are nice enough to have included Countach's side of the story, so that the reader can read both sides of the story. This is not about claiming what is not affirmed yet nor about being childish- this is about telling the truth where it matters most. Gobling reserves the right to promote any party we see fit, as we are neither sponsored by Countach nor Rockin'.
In reverse, we pay to jam, and so we reserve every right to review the places we jam at. So our vocalist is allergic to dust, but there is no other place we know of which serves JCM amps for such an affordable rental rate. Rockin' serves good equipment minus the carpeting problem, while Countach had some failure handling our set that day. Good is good, bad is bad, we like to keep it that way as unbiased as possible. If some quarters just cannot take a bit of constructive critism, then, too bad.
Think of this as an opportunity to improve Countach.
