Here goes our additional installment of the DTS2010 tour. Enjoy!

21 March 2010

Left Johor Bahru for Melaka at 10.00 am in 2 cars. Harris, Ajax, Zaihas in one car, and Zam and Yan in another car. Gathered around at Machap R&R to take breakfast and catch up on some funny stories.

Arrived in Melaka at 1.00 pm. As usual, we lost our way around Melaka first before finding the Shell petrol station nearby Melaka Sentral. Judging from the way we drove, we should have ended up at Pantai Klebang. We have superb sense of direction, you see.

Josiah (Maddame...) and our good friend Pemain Tennis (from the band Proclaim My Victory) fetched us from Shell, and we drove to Josiah's house. Fetched some members of Predicate Not Defined (Hilda commented about missing Nasi Ambang- as usual), did two rounds of tawaf around Josiah's neighborhood playground for some unexplainable reasons, and drove off to MMU Melaka to fetch another band member from Proclaim My Victory.

We reached Fayralta at about 2.00 pm. Started show at about 2.30 pm with SAA. Super band with funk, rapcore, and even Fu Manchu influences. Zaihas had to stay outside manning the entry booth, he missed out a lot of the actions in the venue. This venue is quite interesting really- please knock the door if you want to pee. It is not free access. Some of the team members went to a nearby Ikan Bakar restaurant to eat lunch.

We had Refund, Triumph Ov Fire, Controlled Issue, Proclaim My Victory (seperti biasa, mereka bercucuk tanam membuat batas-batas ubi yang baru) play. These are good bands, the crowd was having fun! Clocksticking and Maddame... played next. Clocksticking was playing tight as usual, and we had some Hari Raya songs from Maddame... courtesy of Josiah, even though it was way out of season.

Predicate Not Defined played next, the best show they ever gave from what we have seen so far! Superb!

Wynken Delirium played last to a few loyal friends who were still there. Hehehe. Thank you guys!

Zam and Yan left early but reached home late. Harris, Ajax, Zaihas, and Josiah dropped by Ajax's sister's house, and we were treated to an outdoor dinner of Asam Pedas. Thank you so much!!!

Harris, Ajax, Zaihas left Melaka for JB at about 11.00 pm, reached home at about 1.00 am.

Zaihas waited at JB train station at 3.00 pm for Danny and Meme who wanted to join us for the trip to Singapore. Turned up train arrival was delayed to 5.00 pm. Zaihas took the 2 hours gap to send his wife and kids to the zoo to watch tigers, crocodiles, birds, owls, and all sorts of animals. Dropped by the Danga seaside to get some mussels and oysters. Danny and Meme called Zaihas just as Zaihas' wife was about to grab a shopping trolley at Giant Tampoi. Okay, so shopping was cancelled and Zaihas went to grab the 2 boys at the JB train station.

Zaihas got sick that night from the oyster he ate. Luth, Zaihas' son was also down with fever. So Danny and Meme hung around the house watching TV, getting online, and sleeping. Hehehe. Poor guys.

27th February 2010

All woke up a bit late, at about 10.00 am. Sent Luth to clinic and Zaihas + QaQa + Danny + Meme were dropped off at C&M to hang out with Zam by Zaihas' wife. For the next 3 hours, we practically tried every instruments in C&M until we were dead bored. Zaihas' wife arrived at 4.00 pm and we went to Danga Bay. As today was QaQa's birthday, we got her a big cake and a big set of toys of gifts. Went back to Zaihas house at about 7.00 pm, getting ready for jamming session that night. Then came in a call, Aizat, a friend of Danny had taken the "tindakan nekad and naked" by taking a bus to JB from KL at the very last minute to join the guys to go to Singapore. Aparaa punya orang. In the end, we had to wait at Skudai Parade to fetch him right before we went jamming.

Jamming went well.

Maddame...'s Josiah, Ashie, and Art arrived in JB at midnight. After they scarily almost veered off to Senai, they ended up in Zaihas' house all right. All had dinner and chatted overnight (Aizat being the target and victim of conversation) before going to sleep.

28th February 2010

All woke up about 9.30 am, washed, had breakfast, and headed off to Larkin bus terminal. We all reached the place at about 12.00 noon and left JB at 12.30 pm. Thanks to the swift actions of our pretty Malaysian immigration officer Miss Crister, we crossed the causeway in no time and arrived in Queens Street at about 2.00 pm. We walked to 141 Jalan Besar, and did soundcheck. Brader Bo and Hairul were already there, and were joined by the rest of the mighty Kaklupunlaks. Zam became the target of attack with his "white kotak kotak pants" by Hairul. Oh tidak. Kaklupunlaks soundchecked next, and this was followed by Maddame...'. We took turns taking lunch at a nearby mamak stall.

Maddame... started the show with hallucigenic noise and heavy sludgy march beats, stunning all those watching them. Kudos to these guys! Kaklupunlaks played next, a bunch of really seasoned experts. They mangled a bunch of rock kapak songs to the point of oblivion, and drummer Shahril was the highlight of the day with his customized drum setup and superb showmanship! Eerie contact lens lah brader! Tak boleh angs. That was not to say the rest of the band was any less powerful. Super tight ensemble!

Wynken Delirium played last at about 6.30 pm, we practically sludged through a full 10 song set plus drums and guitar solos by Yan and Zam! Brader Bo joined in for a cover of Sepultura's Refuse/Resist, splashing mineral water to the crowd in the process. Hehehe. All soaking wet. After a nice get-to-know-and-hang-out session with all who were present, Maddame... and Wynken Delirium departed from Singapore at about 7.30 pm for JB. Danny, Meme, and Aizat stayed back in Singapore as they have more plans to do in Singapore the next day.

We reached JB at about 8.30 pm. Josiah, Ashie, and Art had Nasi Ayam Penyet with Zaihas and family before leaving for Malacca that evening.

Wynken Delirium would like to thank all the people who attended the shows, and purchased the CDs we had on sale. You guys are the best! Thank you Brader Bo, Hairul, all of Kaklupunlaks, Maddame..., Hadi of Fall of Mirra, Kamar Zaman, all the braders and sisters present. Sorry for the delay in publishing our tour diary. Here goes:

29th January 2010

We departed from Johor Bahru at 10.00 pm in our rented Nissan Urvan, later than the original schedule, due to massive traffic jams caused by stylish wel-wel walkers on Pasir Gudang and Skudai roads in conjuction with Thaipusam. Had fun watching Ajax's gore movie with erratic Malay subtitles- "Ini Sejenis Najis", exclaimed the subtitle in one part of the movie. Unthinkable. Stopped by in Pagoh, and took some rest before continuing.

30th January 2010

Reached Melaka by about midnight, and had good fun getting lost in Melaka for almost an hour before actually arriving in Melaka Central. Collected our good friends Mr Josiah and Ard from uber-band maddame..., too bad Ashie could not join us due to some urgent family matters.

Left Melaka by about 1.00 am. Eddie was on the wheels, and he ended up sending the van flying over a fallen lamp post on the highway somewhere near Subang. Not his fault. There was no way we could avoid that one. We advised him to drive slower the next time. Roads in Malaysia were that dangerous to the point that we anticipated we would find buffaloes on the highway next. Pulled over and checked the damages. Bumper was a bit torn, and we had all numbers and letters all cleanly removed from the registration plate, just like what you see in Sesame Street, thanks to the impact.

Continued the journey, and made a few more stops for coffee and rest. By 9.00 am we arrived at the jetty, and took a ferry to the Penang island. It was fun. We reached Kapitan mamak restaurant by about 9.30 am, and waited for Azwi (Predicate Not Defined) while we had tosai, nasi lemak, and roti prata for breakfast. Azwi suggested that we drive over to Soundmaker Studio to bathe and rest, while waiting for the equipment to be set up.

Did soundcheck at about noon, and then in came these dodgy looking kids with big cameras. Turned out that these were RTM reporters covering an indie band's feature. At a really awkward timing. "Kami dari band XXX (tak tau nama), kami main memang best. Sokonglah kami untuk pertandingan YYY (tak tau nama jugak), kami selalu ada gig kat sini". Oh ye ke? That delayed our souncheck for almost 40 minutes. Nevermind.

Completed soundcheck and stringed up tags for the bands and crews. After all, the tour is self-organized by Predicate Not Defined, Wynken Delirium, and maddame... so we have to do these on our own. Some other bands did their soundchecks as we worked.

Zaihas, Ajax, Zam, and Yan decided that they were getting hungry and needed lunch, tagging Josiah, Ard, and Roy along with them. Eddie and Harris stayed back to watch over the event with Azwi.

The hungry buggers proceeded to the closest Nasi Kandar restaurant and ate their full. They burped happily amidst some complaints about the high price of duck curry, and next ordered 2 sets of rice and dishes for shaky Harris and Eddie who had yet taken their lunch.

By 2.30 pm people started arriving, and show officially started. Ard took the task as the door manager, and he certainly did a superb job at it. Josiah was nailed to his laptop, which in turn was nailed to the merchandise table. By now, Zaihas, Yan, Zam, Harris, Roy, Eddie, and Ajax were unable to contain their sleepiness and took turns sleeping in the equipment room. Those who were awake took turns watching the bands play. We liked Hark Tuih Haha. Clocksticking played very well too.

Wynken Delirium played after Maghrib. It was a good show with good support from all those present, despite some errors here and there. Thank you everyone! We stayed back to watch Predicate Not Defined- glorious live performance as ever! Azwi and the new guitarist were very comfortable with their instruments, and Hilda had greatly improved as a vocalist. Not to mention the young energetic drummer, and the ever-steady abang bassist :)

After the show, we headed straight to Batu Ferringhi to hang out with Tam (Blind Tribe). It took us almost 2 hours to reach there. Massive traffic jam!

31st January 2010

Left Batu Ferringhi right after midnight. Originally promised to meet up with Rizal (ex-Blind Tribe) in Bukit Mertajam, but it took almost 2 hours just to get to the mainland, so we had to drop that plan. A thousand apologies, bro!

Reached Harris' parents house in Lunas by almost 3.00 am. Had a good sleep, and woke up in the morning at about 9.00 am. Had good breakfast with Mummy (Harris' mom), and next we walked to the nasi ayam stall nearby to have a hearty brunch, complete with sup kaki ayam. Left Lunas by about 11.00 am for Taiping.

We reached Kamunting at about 2.00 pm, set up our equipment, and did soundcheck. Bandaq, Fendi, and Busop from Flake Poison turned up and we hung out at a nearby mamak shop. Their other guitarist and drummer were unable to make it for the show, but they still turned up to support the tour. Thanks bros!

We played right after Maghrib, we think. First song was cut off by a blown power supply fuse, but the problem was fixed shortly afterwards. The rest of the set went with no problem. Crowd was crazy, with ladies banging their heads as intensely as guys! Kudos to Taiping kids! Zaihas and Harris handed over their equipment to Bandaq and Fendi for a Flake Poison/Wynken Delirium rendition of Lamb Of God's cover "Redneck". Crowd went wild! We had moshpits, two-steps, joget lambak, and even WWE-style wrestling matches in the crowd.

As usual, we stayed back to watch Predicate Not Defined, and right after the show, we said to each other goodbyes and took photos. Left Kamunting at about 9.00 pm. Zaihas requested that we dropped by Changkat Ibol to visit his uncles. Had good dinner with pekasam and sambal belacan, and we cleared about 2 full pots of rice in the process! Left Changkat Ibol at 11.00 pm.

1st February 2010

Reached Melaka at about 5.00 am and sent Josiah and Ard. Tried to go to the restroom to pee but was denied access by stingy petrol station workers. Drove out towards Johor Bahru shortly afterwards, driven by Roy. Suddenly we smelled smoke and burnt matter. Heck, one of the back tyres had practically disintegrated into pieces! Yan came to the rescue, with his quick actions in replacing it with the spare tyre.

Reached Johor Bahru at about 9.00 am, all weary and sleepy. It was a good experience, nonetheless! More tour diary to come!

WYNKEN DELIRIUM - M'SIA's LAST HOPE FOR METAL???

' Lembab dan Berat ' ( slow and heavy)

That was the first ever description I came across regarding Malaysian band Wynken Delirium on a gig flyer in 2009.

I was intrigued. Are they a doom metal / sludge band? Not many of those in Malaysia. In fact I dare say, now that I've heard Wynken Delirium's music and live performance, a RARE commodity.

Present day Malaysia is not a hotbed for anything heavy metal or traditional hard rock. It's INDIE-LAND!!! It's their time now! Sure the otai metal bands or the otai rock kang-kang bands are still around but is there still a consumership, a decent sizeable one that can fill the halls of metal gigs or buy the bands DIY products?Maybe there is still but more likely the number has downsized considerably. Can a Malaysian metalhead shed light on this???? I'm a Singaporean and my views are shaped by what I experience and may not be accurate.

Anyhoo back to INDIE-LAND. Yes the proliferation of Indie Malaya bands. Love em or hate em, they are aplenty these days, to the point that not many show organisers want to give a slot to metal bands. Case in point, the recent ROCK THE WORLD. Yup, one can safely say that WYNKEN DELIRIUM is metal and hard rock's ONLY representative for that show! Sad but true, my metal brethren!

BUT looking at the band's hardwork throughout the years, if there's one band to represent a currently very marginalised genre in Malaysian rock, it would be WYNKEN DELIRIUM.This is a band that writes killer metal/rock tunes and perform them with passion and guts live. This is a band that tirelessly perform one gig after another to brand their name. ( check their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/wynkendelirium ) This is a band that walks the talk about the metal scene health for they not only play gigs, they help to organise them for other metal bands.

In a land where Indie-Malaya rules, WYNKEN DELIRIUM stands alone and in the realm of Malaysian extreme music, they stand alone as the country's only doom/sludge/stoner rock/metal band. Yet, the band is not contend to being just another sludge band in the whole world. WYNKEN DELIRIUM wants to add elements of their Southeast Asian heritage to their sludge and thus making them a unique entity in the whole of hard rock.

I believe that the glory days of the Rock Kapak / Rock KangKang 80s will not return.

I am also inclined to believe that the 90s underground metal boom is gone forever.

But hard rock and the metal genres can hope for a healthier future in which exists a smaller but dedicated and economically stable metal/rock scene in Malaysia. WYNKEN DELIRIUM may well be the hope for that future.

Wynken Delirium was just back from playing at Rock The World 9, Carpark A, Stadium Bukit Jalil on 26 December 2009. It was a blast! We would like to thank:

Everyone who turned up in front of the Main Stage to see and support us play (you guys are the best!), our super crews: Roy, Eddie, Corey, and Abang for the super duper job of moving and assisting us to set up our rig and preparing the DVD + sticker packages, our photographer Zaufi for the excellent photo shoots (the photos will be posted up MySpace soon), Zam's uncle and aunt and family and Corey and family for the hospitality, meals, and lodging during our stay in Kuala Lumpur (may Allah bless you all), Hamka and David for the opportunity for Wynken Delirium to play in this show and the good job in organizing the show and making sure everything is in order, Kombat Pilgrims (wink wink), the cool sound engineers of the Main Stage for doing such a great job in levelling all our instruments during the show, all the Main Stage crews for making sure all is okay before and during our performance, Andy and family and Flop Poppy for the good relaxing show in Lepaq Cafe Kelana Jaya, and all our friends old and new who we met and get to know! Intro. Apa yang sedang berlaku di waktu ini?

Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera. Saya Zaihas di sini, mewakili Wynken Delirium untuk temubual yang menarik ini.

Pada waktu ini, Wynken Delirium sedang mengumpul dana untuk melancarkan album sulung kami “The Alchemy Of Worlds” yang dijangka keluar pada awal tahun 2010. Kami baru saja melancarkan video clip kami untuk lagu “Jingling Nona” yang kami edarkan secara percuma kepada sesiapa yang berminat. Wynken Delirium juga sedang giat bermain di dalam gig di dalam dan luar negara dan membantu menganjurkan gig di sekitar Johor Bahru di atas dasar minat, persahabatan, dan melepaskan tekanan dari majikan dan pekerja bawahan yang mengganggu kewarasan di tempat kerja.

Bila Wynken Delirium wujud? Material pertama Wynken Delirium?

Wynken Delirium wujud dari perpecahan kumpulan Gobling pada tahun 2004. Pada masa itu, Harris (bass) dan Zaihas (gitar) mencari kawan-kawan yang mempunyai minat yang sama untuk menyambung perjuangan Gobling, dan kami menjumpai Ajax (vokal), yang mempunyai rambut yang menawan. Ajax memperkenalkan kami kepada Fad (dram) dan Shah (gitar) dan bermulalah Wynken Delirium.

Pada tahun 2008, Fad dan Shah menarik diri dari Wynken Delirium untuk berekperimentasi dengan muzik grindcore bersama Sickness, dan kami menjumpai para pengganti berkarisma yang terdiri dari Zam (gitar) dan Yan (dram). Semua ahli dan bekas ahli yang disebutkan di atas adalah amat penting dalam membentuk perkembangan Wynken Delirium dari segi bunyi, arah tuju muzik dan penampilan pentas.

Bermula dari tahun 2006 sehingga tahun 2009, Wynken Delirium telah secara berperingkat merakam lagu-lagu yang akhirnya bakal menjadi album sulung kami, “The Alchemy Of Worlds”. Dalam masa tersebut, kami telah mengedarkan single “Eyes Of Good/Jingling Nona” secara percuma kepada rakan-rakan, peminat-peminat, ahli keluarga mereka serta keluarga mertua mereka.

Mengapa Wynken Delirium ditubuhkan? Sudut-sudut yang menarik?

Wynken Delirium ditubuhkan sebagai “outlet” kami semua meluahkan karya kami dalam bentuk muzikal. Pada awalnya, kerana minat kami kepada band-band yang kami minati, masing-masing dari kami ada menulis lagu-lagu sendiri yang ingin kami mainkan bersama sebagai sebuah unit muzik. Lagu-lagu tersebut disemak beberapa kali bersama teman-teman di dalam band semasa sesi latihan, dan versi yang kami rasa terbaik adalah versi yang kami mainkan. Semasa proses tersebut, banyak juga lagu-lagu yang kami terpaksa ketepikan kerana tidak menepati piawaian kami.

Kami rasa cakupan muzik Wynken Delirium semakin berkembang sejak penubuhannya 5 tahun lalu. Setiap daripada kami mempunyai minat yang berbeza-beza, dari muzik gamelan dan etnik, grunge, metal, punk, doom, stoner rock, progressive rock, hinggalah ke dangdut.

Topik perbicaraan lirik kami juga bervariasi dan luar biasa, daripada penjelasan mengenai kegunaan batu dalam masyarakat, sehinggalah ke cerita mengenai bebanan yang ditanggung oleh seorang warganegara Malaysia yang dibebani hutang rumah, hutang kereta, dan mungkin juga hutang Ah Long.

Yang menariknya, semakin lama kami bermain bersama sebagai sebuah band, semakin mudah bagi kami untuk menjumpai cara-cara untuk menggabungkan elemen-elemen yang tampak berbeza ini secara organik and praktikal, dan kami dapat memperhalusi selitan setiap elemen tersebut secara lebih terperinci. Heh heh heh.

Gig pertama dan dah berapa kali beraksi?

“Gig” pertama Wynken Delirium sebenarnya ialah satu audition untuk pertandingan band “Rock Unite” pada tahun 2006 di Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur, disaksikan Ali Bakar dan Joe Wings. Memang malang nasib kami pada ketika itu. Baru nak bermain sudah kena bermain di depan orang-orang tua yang mahir dalam muzik rock kapak walaupun sebenarnya kami bermain muzik rock mesin basuh. Semestinya kapak dan mesih basuh adalah dua objek yang amat berbeza dan tidak serasi, oleh kerana itu juga kami gagal melepasi ujian saringan itu.

Tapi pengalaman pertama yang agak kekok itulah yang banyak membentuk masa depan Wynken Delirium. Kami menjadi semakin serius, terutamanya dalam soal-soal asas muzik seperti bermain dengan “ketat”, intonasi, tuning, dan pitching. Daripada asas-asas tersebut barulah kita boleh maju ke depan untuk menentukan muzik seperti apa yang kami ingin mainkan.

Sejak itu, Wynken Delirium telah bermain di banyak gig di dalam dan luar negara. Kami pernah berkongsi pentas dengan band-band hebat, di antaranya Noxa (Indonesia), Suaka (USA), Invictus (Indonesia), Bloodshed (ya, band rock legenda Malaysia itu), Burgerkill (Indonesia), Predicate Not Defined (Malaysia), Damokis (Malaysia), Karmapura ( Singapura), Carnivora (Thailand), Abhorrence (Slovakia), Blind Tribe (Malaysia), Sil-Khannaz (Malaysia), As-Sahar (Singapura), Negation (Malaysia), Dead Mushroom (Malaysia), Stigmata (Sri Lanka), Black Territory (Malaysia) dan Forgiveness Before Death (Indonesia). Kami banyak belajar dari band-band ini.

Muzik Wynken Delirium ke arah mainstream atau underground? Mengapa dilabelkan “Lembab Dan Berat”?

Ini soalan yang agak menarik. Wynken Delirium tidak pernah mengkategorikan muzik kami mengikut aliran-aliran di atas. Yang penting pada kami ialah semangat untuk melakukan sesuatu itu dengan sendiri, tanpa mengharapkan bantuan orang lain sebanyak yang mungkin. Kerana ini mungkin kami lebih selesa menganjurkan gig sendiri, melancarkan album dengan duit poket dan titik peluh kami sendiri, dan kami amat tidak berkompromi dengan mana-mana pihak yang ingin campur tangan dalam arah tuju muzik kami atau mengaut keuntungan mudah daripada kami. Biarlah Wynken Delirium berkarya sebaik mungkin tanpa dipaksa untuk mengikut acuan tertentu. Walau bagaimanapun, kami rasa kami mungkin lebih selesa dengan scene underground, kerana Zaihas dan Harris bermula mengenal muzik dan teman-teman dari scene tersebut.

“Lembab Dan Berat”. Itulah label yang diberikan oleh teman kami Hassan apabila melihat Gobling bermain live pada tahun 2004. Tag tersebut amat menarik hati kami dan kami berpendapat ia sesuai untuk menggambarkan muzik kami. Sejak itu kami terus menggunakan tag tersebut.

Permintaan Wynken Delirium untuk gig, compilation CD atau pun album pertama?

Setakat ini Alhamdulillah, ada banyak permintaan untuk bermain gig-gig di dalam dan di luar negara. Perlukah metal band menyertai MACP?

Pada kami, ya, ahli muzik di Malaysia patut menyertai MACP. MACP merupakan badan yang membantu kita menjaga hakcipta muzik kita dan dapat mengutip bayaran/royalti bagi pihak pemuzik dari pihak radio, televisyen, dan premis perniagaan yang mengudarakan muzik kita. Tidak kira apa jenis muzik sekali pun, untuk menjaga hak kita dari dimanipulasi oleh pihak-pihak seperti stesen-stesen radio perdana/mainstream, kita perlukan MACP.

Akan tetapi, kita mempunyai pilihan untuk membenarkan pihak-pihak yang tidak mementingkan keuntungan untuk mengudarakan hasil karya kita secara percuma. MACP berpendapat hakcipta dan kebenaran untuk menerbit dan mendendangkan hasil karya muzik untuk ke udara adalah hak mutlak pencipta hasil karya tersebut, dan ini tidak bertentangan dengan rasional pemuzik bebas seperti kami.

Kaitan manusia dan muzik?

Manusia merupakan makhluk yang dijadikan Tuhan dengan daya seni dan kreativiti yang secara relatifnya agak tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan tumbuhan seperti pokok ubi kayu mahupun haiwan seperti siput sedut. Tuhan menjadikan manusia dengan kemampuan untuk mengenali bentuk-bentuk bunyi yang akan dia tafsirkan sebagai sesuatu yang menarik untuk didengar. Itulah muzik kepada manusia.

Dalam kewujudan Wynken Delirium, apa yang dititikberatkan oleh anda dan line up yang lain?

Wynken Delirium adalah lebih daripada sebuah band. Ia adalah sebuah keluarga. Dalam erti kata Wynken Delirium, keluarga adalah perkara yang pertama. Yang kedua ialah kawan-kawan, dan yang ketiga barulah band itu sendiri. Oleh kerana itu, Wynken Delirium mementingkan sikap keterbukaan dan bertolak ansur. Sikap-sikap inilah yang berjaya membantu Wynken Delirium melalui jerih payah dalam berkarya.

Wynken Delirium was recently back from Singapore supporting the Bualgitar Metal Matinee III: The Iommi Legacy session as held by our good friend Brader Bo on 8th November 2009. We would like to thank Brader Bo and Karmapura, Chapter 6 Studio, Asrul, Ali Trompet, and all the "gerek" bands, brothers, and sisters for making the event a successful one! Special thanks to Brader Bo for the scrumptious murtabak and sup tulang merah and the berbual panjang session on various topics, including Joe Rockers' receeding hairlines (sorry bang, jangan marah yee), that evening. Special thanks too to Asrul for repeatedly not being able to contain his treble-toned laughters that very evening. Zam would also like to thank the brother whose name missed our memory banks, who helped him restring his guitar during the show. Thank you so much bro!

We had also completed the video shoot for our song Jingling Nona, and now is in the process of editing the video clip. Expect dizzying footages of Wynken Delirium and the models involved as they jumped, pounced, and rolled over similar to animals in a circus. Being jointly directed by Zam, Ajax, and Zaihas, what else do you expect? Heh. Special thanks to Clement, Carmen, Azhar, and Bob for making this video clip possible.

We had also replaced the audio tracks in the MySpace audio section with mastered version of the tracks, which should provide the listeners enhanced audio sensibilities and experiences, which may include hearing loss for some unfortunate ones. Thus, we advise keeping the dB level appropriate for listening to avoid this from happening.

New Addition To The Wynken Family

Friends !...

We recently received news that our guitarist Zam's wife had delivered a healthy baby boy weighing 3kg. Considering his parents size, that is huge. Sorry Zam, just joking. Both mother and child are doing well and we wish Zam all the best. Do continue to "puasa" for the next 44 days.

Wynken family is growing... friends-wise, family-wise, and we are truly blessed. Alhamdulillah. We have also reached the 2000 friends mark on MySpace. A number that we thought we could never achieve. For all the people who have added us and/or approved our requests for add- a gazillion thanx!

We are also working hard to release our album next year, and we are planning a tour to go with it. Please visit our MySpace site frequently for updates. We will be playing in Singapore this coming November, thanks to Bro Bo of Vicious Volume Radio Show fame. Many more overseas shows are planned for upcoming years 2010/2011.

Pertama sekali, Wynken Delirium ingin memohon maaf di atas kelewatan kami memberikan update terkini. Ini disebabkan oleh jadual keluarga, kerja, dan band yang agak padat sejak kebelakangan ini. Sebenarnya, Alhamdulillah, banyak perkembangan terbaru dari pihak kami yang ingin kami kongsi bersama teman-teman.

Album pertama kami, The Alchemy Of Worlds, sudah selesai proses mastering dan artwork designnya setelah tiga tahun berhempas pulas bekerja. Ada sebelas lagu semuanya. Terima kasih kami ucapkan kepada "POM" Kattaman Chouglin (POM Recording Studio, Long Beach, California, USA) kerana berjaya memberikan sentuhan yang istimewa dalam proses mastering album kami. Bila kami dengar semula album ini, bunyi mixing and mastering album ini mengingatkan kami kepada sound band-band doom lama seperti Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Witchfinder General, Trouble dan Saint Vitus. Bunyi analog lama dengan bottom end yang ganas dengan elemen Sunda/Jawa/Bali dari segi muzikal. Artwork album ini pula kami buat sendiri, dengan banyak menampilkan ciri-ciri Jawa dan Bali juga. Kami sekarang sedang dalam proses mengumpul dana untuk mencetak album ini, dan InsyaAllah akan berjaya diterbitkan dalam masa terdekat ini di bawah label kami sendiri iaitu Saron Production. Kami merancang untuk mencetak seribu keping dahulu untuk pasaran lokal sebagai permulaan. Kami juga sedang dalam proses perbincangan dengan Dead Sea Records untuk menentukan tarikh release album ini di US.

Dari segi alat muzik pula, Wynken Delirium baru-baru ini telah membeli satu unit saron (salah satu komponen gamelan) dari Surabaya, Indonesia untuk kami gunakan dalam live shows kami. Buat masa sekarang, selain menjadi vokalis Wynken Delirium, Ajax juga bertugas bermain saron dalam beberapa lagu. What We Have Learnt So Far

Recently we had lots of gigs to play. We were lucky enough to be endorsed by C&M. Thank you to C&M for trusting WD with the deal. With all the good things coming at us, what have we learnt from these 5 years being in a band, being Wynken Delirium? We received many feedbacks after shows from friends and observers, some good to hear, and some not, but hey, these are all part of experiences and knowledge gained. What we need is a good kick in the ass to make sure we stay level-headed despite all the good things coming at us.

Lesson #1
Never skip basic things such as attending soundchecks and getting to know the equipment provided in gigs. These will help us as a band to not look and sound like fools when we start to play.

Lesson #2
Be ready and be 100% prepared to entertain the crowd. Don't let circumstances take your attention away. This is because people pay to come and see you play. We do want them to go back feeling worthy of paying whatever amount of money that parted from their well-guarded wallets.

Lesson #3
Stay true to your music. Do not try to be someone else when people dictate what to play and what not to play. At the end of the day, it is easier to be yourself rather than someone else. You will feel happier and much more satisfied.

Lesson #4
Do enjoy yourselves on stage and let the music do the talking. Let the music flow within you and share that great feeling of being onstage with the crowd. For that 15 minutes of fame, enjoy it, bathe in it, and ride it like a wild bull in the meadows of Texas. Dude! You earn it. Dont worry about it too much.

Lesson #5
A band is a family extension unit. Be truthful, be respectful of your band mates because, actually, they are the ones that also understand you and may be at some point will be there for you when you are in trouble.

Lesson #6
Practice, practice, practice, and practice some more. Play together as a band as much as possible and be yourself when you are playing your instruments, may it be guitar, bass, throat, drums (or saron, in our case). Work to be good at what you are doing and be professional about it. You make the job easier for others to play along.

At the end of the day, we must enjoy what we are doing. It's not a job, it's not a duty but it's an adventure that six guys can go through and tell to our grandchildren one day- Hey! You know what, when I was younger, we rocked the house of thousands of people.....what a dream!...

Well, it's a long way to go, but I can see it coming! Very soon my friends...very soon!

Lotsa Things

Assalamualaikum & Greetings,

Lots of things have happened recently.

1. Got into accident on the way back from Penang gig. Car is out from workshop, still needs some little tweaking to make sure all is in place.

2. Album has been mastered. Now saving $$$ for pressing.

3. Saron Production has been registered with SSM. Now we can do things legally.

4. Application for MACP done, now waiting for their reply on application status.

5. Endorsement deal with C&M Music Centre in its final stage- waiting for stuff to arrive for us to use. Of course we need to promote C&M. Its mutual.

6. Health deteriorates for a number of band members. Now recuperating.

7. Apiz is appointed saron player. Dangerous butt-banging.

8. Lots of new friends and new old friends. Yes, we met Zaiton Sameon too.

Lots of observations and feedbacks from people and ourselves too which we can take heed (as we are humans with tendency to err)-

1. It is advisable to stay and see as much bands as possible once you paid to watch a gig. Not only you help the bands perform better by supporting them, you also get your monies worth.

2. When you are onstage, please manage your equipment levels and balancing appropriately, with respect to venue size and equipment offered. Not only you will help the audience hear you better, you also save yourself the possibility of losing hearing due to the loud decibels, and you can play tighter too as you can hear your bandmates play.

Finally Wynken Delirium has unveiled the new and latest line-up with Yan joining us on drums last month and performing in last night show - Bloodshed Reunion Tour 2009 at Golden Green Pub. I believe this will be a good start to many more excellent shows around Malaysia and anywhere else it may be. The first show is always the difficult one for Yan and for us but we think the performance last night was typical Wynken Delirium stage show.

Wynken Delirium officially welcomes Yan and hopes that he enjoys playing with us and will stay on to complete the mission that Wynken Delirium vows to do. I guess not band for a bunch of fathers/husbands ....wait for our Midlife Crisis Tour 2009 after Hari Raya. Join in the fun.

From Down-tuned Guitars To Balungan Saron

How do you soak Malay Archipelago’s culture and tradition into heavy, sludgy, and groovy music? Wynken Delirium from Johor Bahru, Malaysia is twisting necks in conducting the experiments. Arming Semar with electric guitar has never been this serious. Taking its cue from the unceremonious break-up of metal band Gobling in 2005, Wynken Delirium has since established itself by adding Javanese/Sundanese/Balinese influences, odd tempo/beat counts, and unusual arrangements on top of its grunge/doom/metal music foundation. The resulting combination is summarized by the band’s two lowly tuned guitars and bass guitar, frequent switches between growls, clean notes, and high-pitched shrieks in the vocal department, full drumming, and interspersion of traditional instruments such as Javanese/Balinese/Sundanese gamelan and Minangkabau’s cak lempong. The band has been labeled as everything from grungecore, progressive/hard rock, metal, stoner rock, to ethnic metal.

Currently fronted by Ajax at vocals, the band also consists of Zaihas and Zam on guitars, Harris on bass guitar, Yan on drums, with help from friends such as Fadz and Amyn on drums and Toi on gamelan/cak lempong. The band has played in numerous shows and competitions since its inception 3 years ago, most notably in Maxxnoise Fest 1 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and in Malaysian national finals for Global Battle of The Bands (GBOB), Yamaha Asian Beat, and ROTTW Road To Soundstage band competitions. Known for its mind-blowing live performances, the band has shared stage with great bands such as As-Sahar (Singapore), Noxa (Indonesia), Suaka (USA), Blind Tribe (Malaysia), Negation (Malaysia), Damokis (Malaysia), Predicate Not Defined (Malaysia), 18SGG (Malaysia), Dead Mushroom (Malaysia), and Bannbodo (Malaysia), among others. This year, Wynken Delirium is scheduled to appear onstage with Bloodshed (Malaysia), Burgerkill (Indonesia), and Sil-Khannaz (Malaysia), and is currently negotiating dates in Thailand, Philippines, and Australia.

To date, Wynken Delirium has released two EPs which are available free of charge to interested parties and a live DVD which is being sold at rock bottom price of RM 5.00 apiece. Wynken Delirium’s song Jingling Nona has received airplay in Suria FM’s Brader Bo Vicious Volume radio show in Singapore and Soupy Gato radio podcast in Michigan, USA. The band is currently working on their debut album, The Alchemy Of Worlds, containing eleven songs. The album is produced, recorded, and mixed by the band itself, and mastering work is done by Chouglin Kattaman of POM Studio (Long Beach, California, USA) and Gunawan Moehammad of Stonedeafmusic Studio (Brooklyn, NY, USA). Judging from the progress made so far, the album should be able to be slotted for release in 2009 under the band’s own label Wynken Records with distribution support from Orgasmatron Records (Malaysia) and Dead Sea Records (USA).

Moving forward, Wynken Delirium is in the process of ordering saron, a component of the gamelan ensemble, from Indonesia, to be used in live and recording settings. The band is also working to have more Wynken Delirium merchandise available, starting with a limited print of 25 Wynken Delirium T-shirts to rave response. The T-shirts were sold out in less than two months of its launch date in February 2009. There are plans for T-shirt reprints, logo buttons, posters, and stickers. Hit 1000 Friends & Wynken Delirium T-Shirt

You know what... we hit 1000 friends. Well may be for some bands, this is natural, but for us, I believe it is a success. Why...you may ask. The music that we play is not trendy nor glamourous. We have been labelled doom, grunge-core, metal and lately stoner rock. Well I guess it is hard to even define the music that we play. We have a vast spectrum of influences that we tap from...but you know what, its still boils down to the root of metal which kick started from Sabbath and the bands that follow suit. We listen to Deep Purple to Monster Magnet, from Alice in Chains to Lamb of God, Dio to Slayer, Sabbath to Kyuss, Cathedral to Pod People, and the list goes on.
What I want to say is, we should always believe in the music that we play and the music that our heart and soul really want to write. The story that we want to tell, without an ounce of pretentious glamour sprinkled all over it, the whole truth nothing but the truth. I am happy that 1000 people add us as their friend from all over the world. We may never met or be the closest and best of friends....yet the music speaks for itself.

What awaits Wynken Delirium in 2009. Well, we have a new guitarist, Zam and a new drummer, Amyn sitting in for Fad because he wanted to concentrate on his grindcore band, Sickness and to them, all the best. To Fad, thanx for the effort, time, and dedication towards Wynken Delirium. Zaihas and his wife are expecting their second child in March 2009 and Zam is expecting his second child in December 2009. The rest, well, we will maintain our status quo for now . The band, well we will be completing our mixing and mastering by March 2009. Fill in the gig schedule that is reasonable and not too taxing. . Hopefully an Aussie Tour towards the end of 2009 or early 2010. Anyway, it boils down to the preparation of the band.
Well, finally we are having our t-shirt for sale apart from the DVD. The T-Shirt will be RM25 per piece. First print will be 25 pieces so guys, grab this limited edition t-shirt. Hoping that we will have more designs added as time goes by.Well, in short it will be an exciting year...an adventurous year and hopefully more oversea festivals and tour....

Last but not least... you guys out there with a band, do what you want, do what you believe in, play with your heart, sing with your soul and make music for yourself before anyone else and only then, an artist you shall be.

Wynken Delirium had just finished mixing the 9th song (Gudmunsdottir) for the upcoming album and had it sent to POM Recording, USA, for mastering. We have 9 songs sent so far, and 2 more songs are undergoing mixing. We would like to profusely thank Gun from Stonedeafmusic and Kattaman from POM for being patient with us throughout the mastering process, you guys are the best!

On other news, Wynken Delirium is working on our T-shirt, we are planning a first print of 20 to 25 T-shirts and hopefully these will be ready by mid-February. We hope this can fill in the void for our good friends in waiting for our upcoming debut album which takes so long to mix and master and press. We are nothing without God's grace and your support!

We would also like to send our deepest condolences to a very good friend of ours on the loss of his beloved son, Al-Fatihah. Tabahkan hati, kuatkan iman, kami turut berdukacita di atas apa yang terjadi. Sesungguhnya, Allah lebih menyayanginya.

JB Rock Fest & Killer Zam (Among All Other Updates)

We had just finished playing in JB Rock Festival in 21 December 2008. For the first time, we played in a gig on our own turf. We had been playing all over, from Jakarta to Penang to Kuala Lumpur, but this is the first time we play in an actual gig (not a competition nor showcase) in our hometown of Johor Bahru. Thanks to Mr Fadzil for the invitation and also the opportunity.

That day was also Zam's (guitarist) first live appearance with Wynken Delirium. He was very energetic (especially with his new-gotten Killer guitar made by the guitar company owned by Akira Takasaki of Loudness fame), and made good moshmates with the rest of the band onstage!

On other updates, we had been recently been reviewed in Empayar Dec 08 issue and ROTTW Dec 08 issue. Big thanks to Empayar and ROTTW! Go grab a copy of each mag now!

People.. friends... and to whom it may concern!

We had a great month, week, and year... we are closing 2008 on a high note. What can you say when Wynken Delirium, which plays a music which is not trendy and freakin' alien- a mixture of grunge/doom/metal (and lately) ethnic sound- were able to play in the final event on a national level for Global Battle Of The Band (GBOB) and Asian Beat. Winning or not, it did not matter, we had a great time. We have let people feel the intensity and uniqueness of our type of music, and leave them dumbfounded after we walked offstage. We never thought, with what we have, it will take us this far. We will go further and explore, reciprocate, re-invent, and re-assess our sound as we grow. We have just started, people. It's just the beginning.

Look at the picture of Zaihas jumping onstage at Asian Beat. What can be said. The intensity from Ajax, the crudeness from Zaihas, and the coolness from Fad & Harris said it all. Hopefully the situation in Thailand will resolve as we have another 2 shows in Bangkok before we close the 2008 on a high note! Yeah! Hopefully we will be able to perform so we can play the Demonic Festival in Feb 2009. If all goes well.

We will have a busy year in 2009 with the upcoming debut album's release. There is also plan for a split album with our labelmates in US. And maybe more splits with a band in Sweden. Hopefully all of that will materialize and we hope to expand the WynDel world. Anyway, to all our families, friends, and supporters- thanx for this great year!

Wynken Delirium baru selesai bermain dalam gig The Great Southern Gathering pada 26-Oct-08 lalu di Rookies, Pasir Gudang bersama-sama dengan Bannbodo, Damokis, Predicate Not Defined dan Blind Tribe. Kami bertuah dan berasa rendah hati dapat bermain bersama-sama dengan band-band yang hebat belaka. Sambutan gig ini agak menggalakkan, Alhamdulillah dan InsyaAllah Rookies akan menganjurkan lebih banyak Show seperti ini. Terima kasih kepada Encik Jack, boss Rookies. Wynken Delirium juga akan bertanding di dalam GBOB Finals di Planet Hollywood, 13-Nov-08 dan diharapkan teman-teman dapat memberikan sokongan yang sepenuhnya. Kami akan cuba yang terbaik. 13-Dec-08 ini kami juga dijadualkan bermain di Immortal Bar, Khaosan Road, Bangkok, Thailand. Terima kasih kepada Encik Fah yang sudi mengundang kami bermain di sana. Dari segi materials pula, Wynken Delirium sudah selesai mixing dan menghantar 7 tracks kepada teman kami Encik Gunawan (dari band Suaka) di Stonedeafmusic Studio, New York City, USA untuk mastering. Zaihas pula sedang bertungkus-lumus sehingga hampir pekak untuk menyiapkan proses mixing untuk 4 lagu selebihnya. 11 lagu ini bakal dipertaruhkan untuk debut album kami, The Alchemy Of Worlds, yang diharapkan dapat kami release pada tahun 2009 nanti. Kami merancang untuk mereleasekan album ini di bawah label Orgasmatron Records dan juga telah dapat menarik minat sebuah indie label dari USA, Deadsea Records untuk distribution deal di luar Malaysia. Sementara itu, CD-R single kami Eyes Of Good/Jingling Nona masih boleh didapati secara percuma dari kami dan kami juga ada menjual DVD persembahan live kami The DVD That's Not Supposed To Be pada harga RM 5 sekeping.

Kami juga baru menyiapkan video clip untuk lagu kami Jingling Nona dan hasilnya agak menyeronokkan gusi dan gigi. Kami sedang dalam rancangan untuk menyiapkan video clip kedua kami untuk lagu Eyes Of Good pula. Kali ini dengan jalan cerita, dan Ajax telah dapat mengenalpasti beberapa kawasan pembinaan yang tidak terurus yang akan digunakan untuk video clip ini nanti. Ternyata membuat video clip merupakan aktiviti yang amat menghiburkan.

The Uprising - An Update

Dudes.... & Dudettes,

Penang was stoked and Wynken Delirium were stoked. We met our old friends, Nasi Kandar ensued, and various discussions came about about olden days when we (or some of us) were slightly younger. Rizal, Tam (Blind Tribe), and lots of our old folks were there... Mulok of Empire Music Entertainment and we definitely found (and rediscovered) good friends like Flake Poison, Predicate Not Defined, and Fariz & Inersia X. And the The Mighty Mandatory... with still the same serious faces and extreme musicianship....

Overall it was an excellent trip with an excellent crowd. Penang crowd rocks! Period! As Tam would put it... Northern Trendkill hehehehe. So are we the Great Southern Trendkill?...go figure. The show was properly organized and started on time @ 3pm with Ceased War. Watch out for this band, dude...Blind Tribe Junior...awesome. The best thing out of this trip was that we get to know tonnes of new friends, MySpace address exchange and our free CDs were grabbed within 1 minute when Ajax distributed it halfway through the set.

We hope to play again up north... and currently we are in the midst of bringing Blind Tribe and Predicate Not Defined down to Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru for this coming October Showcase. Watch out as Pasir Gudang will be the house of Metal Music...'til then, enjoy and have a safe life.

New Songs Off The Upcoming Debut Album

We had just uploaded two more songs off our upcoming debut album The Alchemy Of Worlds up our MySpace. The two songs are Seasonings and The Song That's Not Supposed To Be. Expect crazy Led Zeppelin meet Tool! The songs should be available for play within 24 hours from now, this depends on MySpace's page updating speed.

We are sorry that we do not allow downloads for these songs just yet, but have fun listening to these brand new tracks, folks!

As far as recording and mixing go, Hatsumomo and Gudmunsdottir are under mixing, and we should be able to record the drum tracks for Two Times Late and Growe sometime in August 08. Yep, we are re-doing Hatsumomo and Two Times Late for this album! The rest of the tracks are in Gun's good hands in Stonedeafmusic Studio, NYC, USA, and are under mastering. Thanks Gun!

We had just came back from the abovementioned competition on last Sunday 6-Apr-08. The good news is that Wynken Delirium won first prize! Thanks to Allah for the good luck :)

Our newest additions to Wynken Delirium, Ray (on guitars) and Amin (on drums) played exceptionally well that evening. Congratulations brothers!

We would like to thank- Mr Rosli (Webs Production) for the opportunity, Mr Agigi @ Bob Rockin' for the back line, support, and for tweaking the small Laney amp to sound good that evening, Power Root & Pasar Raya Maslee for the sponsorship and prize, our judges (Mr Sam and Mr Zul from Hidden Silence, among others) for the favorable verdict, all the bands who played alongside us for the friendship, and of course, the audience for the support!

To keep up with the awkward increase of press and mass media interest in Wynken Delirium (ehem, ehem), we have prepared a press kit to cater to the requirement. Interested parties (magazines, fanzines, radio stations, TV stations) may email or call us for a copy of the radio edit CD, and the press kit in Adobe PDF format is available for download from a link in Wynken Delirium's MySpace and Blogspot pages.

Stonedeafmusic (NY, USA) had recently sent back rough mastered WAV files of Jingling Nona and Eyes Of Good, and the tracks sound dense and heavy! There are of course a few more tweaking to be done, but all in all, the overall sound is not far from what we expected to hear- and that is good news.

Our T-shirt design is in progress, we should have the black and white design available by next week. Thanks Epul!

Due to the open air concert tragedy in Bandung, we were informed the the Surabaya gig may be postponed. No worries though, we are planning other gigs to fill the time between now and then :)

Aren’t we lucky. Zaid (Grand Sub) and Ray (Ray Zasha Band) are currently working closely and rehearsing with Wynken Delirium for the Surabaya gig. Thanks, guys, for the interest and immense support!

At the recording front, we have started laying tracks for our last two songs for the album, Two Times Late and Growe. Drums will be most probably be played by Zaid, and additional guitars by Ray- these are yet to be confirmed, but these are the plans as of now. Ajax will be putting his vokill tracks into Seasonings and Growe sometime this month. We have completed mixing 9 tracks, 3 tracks are under mixing, and 3 tracks are under recording. So we are slotting in a total of 15 tracks for The Alchemy Of Worlds. That should keep you all greatly entertained- "Wynken make noise long time".

Other news. We are waiting for the finalized T-shirt design from our friend Mr Epul (Logam) - he is one fine artist, and Mr Frank Yudo (Grindbuto) is working hard to finalize the firm date for our Surabaya gig.

Wynken Delirium would like to announce a major line up revamp. Fad and Shah are no longer with us, and we would like to wish them well in their future undertakings.

The drumming duty for the time being will be handled by our good friends Mr Wan from renowned Johor Bahru grindcore/gore outfit Damokis, and Mr Jering from frantic Johor Bahru emo outfit Rism as sessionists.

We have recently received an offer from our good friend Mr Frank Yudo from the great Indonesian grindcore band Grindbuto to play in Surabaya Metalfest 2008 which is currently scheduled to be in March or April 2008. Yes, we will be going, God willing!

Blog Besar Jakarta, Day 4 - 10th September 2007

Assalamualaikum and Greetings,

Sorry for the delay, we were really tied up with work. Here's the installment for the last day in Jakarta.

We woke up early that day, had breakfast, and scoured Blok M area for more shopping. Requested the hotel to call in an Innova to send us the airport.

We left for the airport at about 1 pm, checked in, and boarded the plane at about 6.30 pm. Reached Changi at about 9.00 pm, took MRT all the way to Bugis, and took a bus to Johor Bahru. Each of us reached home at about midnight, except Ajax who only managed to get home at about 3.00 am.

It was a tiring but eventful journey, and we would like to thank Bob Agigi for the opportunity, Robin for the hospitality, and Damokis, Negation, Torture Incident, Noxa, Finish Irene, After All Over, Suaka, Evacuate Cowboys, Invictus, Bestiality, and Inlander for putting up such a good show onstage!

Blog Besar Jakarta, Day 3 - 9th September 2007

Assalamualaikum and Greetings,

We woke up early that morning, and had breakfast, together with Negation. We took photos and discussed in depth about a lot of stuff.

Robin text messaged us that he would be treating us lunch, and by 12 noon, he arrived at the hotel. By then, all of Damokis had also woken up. All of us checked out from the hotel, and thanks to the hotel, we were allowed to put all our luggage for a little while more in Torture Incident's room while we set out for lunch.

Robin led us on a mini jogathon to a not-so-nearby restaurant. It was a seafood restaurant, and it was jammed packed on a Sunday afternoon! All of us were sweaty and hungry by then and so we quickly walked in and waited to be seated. Bob Agigi and Madie Negation went to check on Torture Incident as they were not together with us in the initial hiking session. Shortly afterwards, Ratna & fiance, Deck & partner, and Ayen showed up, and we went in. We got seated and Robin placed orders. We had a very nice lunch of rice, fishes, and squids, and lots of coconut drink and Tehbotol Sosro. Thank you very much Robin, for everything!

We took some more photos in the restaurant after we finished lunch, and hiked back to the hotel. From there, we caught some cabs to Hotel Melawai, near Blok M. Tried to check in, but we were told that all rooms were fully booked. Haris, Zaihas, and Muhairi walked for about 15 minutes to Hotel Losari, only to find Negation already there. We were told that there was a short cut from Hotel Losari to Hotel Melawai which only took 5 minutes on foot. Zaihas got whacked by Haris and Muhairi for attempting to bring them keliling padang (around the field)!

We walked back to Hotel Melawai to alert the rest of the people about Losari having vacancies, and suddenly we were told that there were rooms to check in. Things just got lucky, so we all checked in. Torture will be leaving for Malaysia that night, Negation and Wynken Delirium were due to leave on 10-Sept, and Damokis was to go back to Malaysia on 11-Sept.

We took a little bit of rest in our respective hotel rooms, and met up at Blok M Plaza to do some shopping. There were lots of good stuff around, too bad we did not have much money to spend :( Wynken Delirium completed the shopping session that afternoon by having a good afternoon meal of Pecel Lele at a stall nearby.

Robin let us know that he would be bringing us out for dinner at about 8.00 pm. So we went back to the hotel at about 7.00 pm, bathed, prayed, and rested a little bit. By 8.00 pm, almost everyone was down at the hotel lobby, and Robin was already waiting for us. We walked a little bit to the stall which we ate dinner when we first arrived. It was a welcome return, with Bob Damokis the vocalist resuming his duty of forwarding numerous song requests to our favorite busker there. We swore that he completed at least 2 albums worth of Ebiet G Ade's songs!

Ajax who earlier had grunted loudly about not being able to have Bakso Urat was finally silenced by 2 bowls of delicious Bakso Urat. He did comment that the meatballs were not too big like he wanted them to be, but he swallowed all the bowls' content anyways. Negation and Haris had a good talk on serious issues. Zaihas could only chip in once in a while as he had lost most of his voice. Poor fellow.

We headed back to our hotel room at about midnight. Wynken Delirium had a good funny-tribal-pillow-and-mattress-hit-by-drumsticks jamming session before going to sleep. Some good audio tracks were recorded and hopefully snippets of the jam will be mixed together as part of the upcoming debut album.

Assalamualaikum and Greetings,

Let's continue from where we left.

We slept to the machine gun tone of Fad's snores that morning. We woke up at about 7.00 am, washed ourselves, and had breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. We went out to a nearby cellular phone stall to purchase new SIM cards for Ajax and Shah. It was a beautiful morning, slightly cloudly and it looked like it rained earlier that morning.

Received a text message from Robin about picking us up, and by 8.30 am he was already at the hotel with the van, together with Panji. We exchanged greetings and got to know each other better. We left the earliest to Rossi Music Hall, the venue of the gig, and arrived at 9.00 am. The staff were still setting up the equipment when we arrived.

Did our soundcheck session, and relaxed a little bit. By 10.00 am Damokis and Torture Incident arrived and did their soundchecks. At about 11.00 am Negation arrived, with luggage and all, fresh from the airport. They did their soundcheck too. Suaka was next, and guess what? They came with Baron (ex-Gigi guitarist) as soundman and Marcell (yes, that famous RnB singer Marcell) on drums!

Met up with Frank Yudo from Grindbuto and also Rully and Gun from Suaka. Hung out a bit with all the guys present. Overall, it was a cheery atmosphere, with handshakes, smiles, and laughs being exchanged between all those present. We passed some copies of our EP to our newly found friends, and Zaihas passed WAV files of the 2 tracks off our EP to Gun (Suaka) for him to test out the mastering on those tracks. Gun is with Stonedeaf Music, and they did a good job on Suaka and Noxa's recent releases. Ajax and Fad had fun posing for photoshots with Marcell. We also had good fun talking to Frank about Diponegoro (may Allah bless him for fighting the Dutch colonials), magic men, and meditation.

Soon after, Robin called all the bands and handed out security bracelets to distinguish the bands from the gig goers. It was an orange plastic based bracelet with "MaxxNoiseFest 1 VIP" printed on it- cool stuff!

Wynken Delirium, Damokis, and Torture Incident went out to have a satisfying meal at a Warteg (Warung Tegal or rice with dishes stall- for those who wonder what that mean). Prices were cheap, and helpings were many. Warteg lady was smiling from ear to ear- all of a sudden her stall was stuffed in all directions by hungry band members, that certainly meant good money!

Zaihas, Fad, Ajax, and Harris left for the hotel at 1 pm to bathe, pray, and rest. Shah hung around to check out the remainder of the bands doing soundcheck. We later heard from Shah that Suaka's soundcheck was extra long and that the sound was extra cool.

We went back to the gig venue at about 4 pm, and very soon after that Robin approached each band to confirm the performing sequence. Wynken played fourth, after Torture Incident, and before Damokis.

Soon after, the show started. We had these 2 really sexy, good-looking lady DJs announcing the name of the bands and the sponsors.

The first band was Finish Irene. They were really young, but their playing skill was something else. Their music was a mixture of metalcore and emo, powerfully and blazingly delivered. The whole Malaysian contingent was in front, banging to their music.

Next was After All Over. Another good band, there were marked Pantera and NYHC influence in their music and presentation. The band had tattoos all over them.

And here came the third band- Torture Incident. Ayen was on guitars, Deck was on drums, and Ratna on throats. They played as a three-piece since their bassist left. Ayen did a good thing by playing through 2 amplifiers and using quite a low set of tunings- there was almost no need for a bassist. Deck's drumming was consistent, and Ratna gave her best growls and shrieks to the amazement of all those who were present- "Selamat Datang, Selamat Datang, Selamat Datang...". That has got to be the heaviest welcoming song ever heard!

We were next. We played a mixture of originals and cover. We had Orgasmatron (Motorhead), Soul Sacrifice (Cathedral), NIB (Black Sabbath), and Refuse/Resist (Sepultura) as covers, and we played Jingling Nona, The Song That's Not Supposed To Be, and Gudmunsdottir. Crowd was really cool and supportive, and they sang and banged their heads to our music, and we almost lost our minds playing the songs in the most sludgy and fuzzed out manner we could think of.

Next, we had Damokis. They started their set with a dastardly cover of Dewa19's Sedang Ingin Bercinta, which resulted in a majority of us reeling in laughter! They played about 18 songs, with a cover of Groinchurn.There was this burly vocalist Bob flying all across the stage, there was guitarist Bob who was playing it super cool, Wan the other guitarist with his super whammy squeals, Muhairi the bassist with the occasional backing vocals, and Fauzi the super drummer. This is the peak of humorous grindcore, a must-see live act! Wan's effects pedal gave way in the middle of performance, but he quickly switched to direct amp gain for overdrive.

Negation was next. Super tight and powerful outfit. Frontman Madec was scaringly effective as a vocalist, you should see his eyes. His eyes! Guitarist Madie was as meditative as ever, coaxing violent noises from his Kramer. Yore the bassist unfurled signature Negation riffs in the coolest manner we have ever seen. Hezry the drummer is another cool fella. That cannot be said about his drumming- blisteringly tight and snappy! Somewhere around this time, Harris was suddenly grabbed by Bob the guitarist and was reluctantly dragged and used to mop the mosh pit!

Next was Bestiality, a hardcore outfit. Very NYHC, they reminded us a lot of Victory Records bands. The drummer used trigger to back up his drum pedals. There was a power failure in the middle of their set, but that did not deter them from performing the best they could.

Inlander came up next. Super crazy punk rock crews! We had fun singing to old punk tunes and people were pogo-ing like crazy all over the place! Zaihas lost his voice over the course of the next few days because of the song "Attitude", and Shah clapped his feet to "Die Die My Darling"!

Invictus was next. Really awesome progressive metal band! They were reduced to a three-piece as their vocalist was ill, but still, they took our breath away with their super-complicated song arrangement and skill. This was easily the best-skilled band in the whole bill! They played a fiery mix of progressive metal. All three members are suitably skilled, with virtuoso skills like bass tapping executed and displayed relaxingly!

Next we had Noxa - super heavy grindcore outfit. They were by far the tightest unit we saw that night. They also did a grindcore cover of Sepultura's Troop Of Doom- heavy! Noxa ended the show with a surprise birthday party for Robin, Noxa's druumer. The DJs brought a cake and Robin blew the candlelights off, and he wished that all the bands with stay united and be together. Let's pray for that wish to come true.

Next was Evacuate Cowboys. Cool relaxed dudes, but what they played was something else. Tool and A Perfect Circle came to mind. Some of us immediately rose from the back and went to the front when the first few notes of that Tool song (we forgot the title, we think it was from Tool's Undertow album). Their original compositions were as suitably complex and cool too.

The last band on the bill was Suaka, we only managed to catch about 3 songs before all Malaysian bands were called upon to depart the venue for security and safety reasons. Suaka played an interesting mix of heavy metal and Indonesian traditional music, and their live sound was arguably the best of all the bands that played that night, thanks to Mr Baron on the mixer.

After the show, Torture and Negation left straight for the hotel, however, Damokis and Wynken Delirium decided to drop by to have Nasgor (Nasi Goreng) on the way. We arrived at the hotel at about 12 midnight, took bath, and slept.

Blog Besar Jakarta, Day 1 - 7th September 2007

Assalamualaikum and Greetings,

Folks, sorry it took a while to update our blogspace. We had just came back from a monstrously fun show in Jakarta on 8th Sept 2007, and we are glad that the trip began and ended well, with lots of new friends made. I will write up the blogs, one day at a time as not to bore you guys. Let's start with Day 1 - 7th September 2007.

All of Wynken Delirium gathered in Larkin bus station at 11.00 am together with Damokis. We waited for a while for Bob (Damokis' vocalist) while he rushed home to get his wife's passport, and we boarded the bus at about 12 noon.

We travelled to Eunos to have a super-grindcore-lightning-fast lunch (mucho thanks to Bob - Damokis' guitarist - and family!), and from there took cabs to Changi Airport. We checked in at about 4.00 pm, and board the plane at about 4.55 pm. All went smoothly according to schedule. We took Lufthansa.

In the plane, we all ended up sitting on the few last rows of seats located at the tail end of the plane. It was here that funny incidents started to happen.

Ajax wondered why his seat was marked 54E and Zaihas' was 54D, and wanted his seat number to be the same as Zaihas'. Zaihas was not willing to have Ajax sit on him through the flight- if that was what he wanted!

Muhairi (Damokis' bassist) suddenly panicked- he did not know how to open the seat belt he had just fastened!

Wan (Damokis' guitarist) sat in someone else's place and practically shoo-ed the seat owner and his girlfriend to the other side!

Midway through the flight, we were served croissant and cheese. It was exceptionally yummy, and Fad was already eyeing a lady who did not eat her meal to see if he could secure that other croissant and cheese too. He was also wondering if the croissant and cheese tasted better with chilli sauce.

Ajax came to the rescue. As he waved his pack of wet towel (which looked like an extra large pack of condiment), he innocently said, "Here's the chilli sauce you need". The rest of the people laughed like crazy!

Then a couple of people stood up to go to the restroom which was located very near where we were seated. Ajax was surprised to know that actually planes have restrooms inside them. Another round of giggles ensued!

As we were nearing Jakarta, the plane hit a few air pockets, and this caused the plane (especially the tail, where we were seated) to tremble. It was a bit unnerving, and most of the passengers chose to keep quiet. Suddenly Bob (Damokis' vocalist) exclaimed loudly, "Roller Coaster!" and we all laughed like nutters!

We reached Soekarno-Hatta Airport at about 5.35 pm WIB (or 6.35 pm Malaysian time). Shah managed to grab his guitar which was almost placed in the "Lost And Found" section of the airport- phew! Robin (Noxa's drummer) was already waiting at the nearby McDonald's and proceeded to assist us to put our luggage into the waiting van.

We snailpaced through Jakarta's heavy work evening traffic and reached Blok M about 3 hours later, tired and hungry. Harris had hot bum from sitting on top of the van engine too long, while Zaihas and Bob (Damokis' vocalist) ended up talking to each other in Pingu language from the long journey. Fad, surprisingly, had a good snore session through it all.

The van stopped by Blok M, and there was this row of stalls in which Robin invited us to drop by and have our dinner- thanks Robin! We had a good meal, and the bands discovered the good Tehbotol Sosro - we drank like 30 bottles!

We were then sent to Hotel Wisata Indah in Kemang, and we offloaded our stuff into our respective hotel rooms. We bathed, changed, prayed, and slept. Uhm, more like, we tried to sleep. Suddenly there were these really loud splashes of water from the nearby swimming pool. We thought we heard whales. No, they were Muhairi, Bob, Wan, and Bobby, swimming around happily way past midnight!

Zaihas and Ajax took the time to pack the merchandise we brought with us and also cut the stickers we brought to size. We passed some stuff to Damokis, and we had a good night's sleep.

Chips A-hoy!

We are just back from Kuala Lumpur, a full day marathon it was. Let's revisit the highlights of the trip, brothers and sisters-

Harris left home at about 11.20 am yesterday (14-Jul), and fetched Fad, Am, and Zaihas on the way. Things went pretty normal until Jabatan Kerja Raya decided that the only road we know leading to Ajax's house need a fresh layer of asphalt that day. We got chased away by the contractor (hmph) and ended up going around a Chinese cemetery, factories, and other people's houses for 30 minutes before we discovered that an altenate route to Ajax's house was only nearby, duh.

So finally we got everyone into the car, 5 guys in all (we were due to meet up with Shah in Kuala Lumpur as he was already up there for work-related matters), and left for Kuala Lumpur at about 1 pm plus. We pulled over at Pagoh exit, and had a hearty meal thanks to Ajax's, Fad's, and Harris' home supplies.

We arrived at Gigger's @ Paul's Place at about 5.30 pm, and Shah arrived about 30 minutes after that, we hung out, observed Rajoo's Flour Mill in minute details, and made fun of Ajax's newly purchased mask with blue eyeshadows and no nostril holes. Such a deadly mask. Brandon (the organizer) arrived at about 7 pm, we had a good soundcheck session, and played second after Tyre Pancit at about 9 pm. The bands played at ground floor this time. Zaihas kept commenting about this weird less known Vax amplifier he played through, which to his surprise, sounded quite good! The crowd was not big, but really supportive. We passed our EP copies around to our newfound friends, and set off towards KL Jam Asia at about 10 pm.

We almost got lost on the way, but suddenly Am received some inspiration from unknown sources, suddenly highlighting places that he had been in when he studied in Kuala Lumpur. Am had since then doubles as our official ahli nujum (astrologer), because in addition to being our official photographer, he also conveys messages from the unknown/netherworld to assist our travel- weird stuff if you ask us. He told us he studied in Bangsar, and bathed in Kepong. Now we wonder where he got his teeth brushed back then.

We reached KL Jam Asia at about 11 pm, and took some time to get a decent parking place for Harris' and Shah's cars. We met up with Amir, and 18SGG was bashing the stage as we went in. Tremendously awesome band. We played last, and crowd support was great. We were very glad for the fact that Alex The Chinx and Ayid Roar In The East from Revenge were present to support us. Thanks brothers for making it all happen!

Had a cool mamak session with most of the bands/good friends present, and Ajax attempted contact with Abg Rom of ROTTW for an interview session and meeting up. Yup, we got the appointment, and we left for Batu Caves at about 2 am. Shah needed to head back to his hotel as his family were there.

As usual, we relied partly on Am's ahli nujum skills to get us to Batu Caves. We met Abg Rom at his office at about 3 am. He shocked us all by taking a candid shot of us as he came down the stairs! Unpredictable fellow. Hahaha.

We had a good nasi lemak session and interview, and Ayid and Alex arrived shortly afterwards after somehow managing to refill their car's empty gas tank. It was a fun meet up, with CDs and updates changing hands. We left for Johor Bahru at about 5.30 am and reached home by about 10 or 11 am.

So there you go, people, a short account of what happened yesterday (and this morning). Wynken Delirium would like to thank Brandon, Paul, Amir, Ayid, Alex, Abg Rom and his cool crew, and Am of course for the experience!

Hail doomladen folks,

We have uploaded yet another remix of Jingling Nona and Eyes Of Good off our upcoming debut album onto our Myspace page. These sound even better, and we are very glad.

It is good to season your ears a little bit, we do hope that all the recorded songs will be able to take their time to grow and ferment sound-wise during mixing, so that the album will have the best mix we can ever afford to provide musically, technically, and money-wise.

Please bear with us as we learn how to utilize our recording equipment (im)properly. Thanks to the guys who are supportive enough to request copies of the EP- we'll get the copies mailed to you as soon as possible.

The Rise Of Power Metal

Gigantic. We had just came back from playing at The Rise Of Power Metal gig last Sunday 4th March @ Giggers Art Cafe (previously known as Paul's Place) in Kuala Lumpur. It was a very much enlightening and rich experience, to say the least.

Drove out in our rented van as early as 6 am (thanks to our good friend Bad). Zaihas had good fun rampaging around like a rude "bas kilang" driver in pitch morning darkness searching for Ajak's house, with occasional overshoots to a nearby Chinese graveyard. Talking about doom metal.

Next, both of them drove to Haris' home to wake him up and get him to automatically prepare us all some jelly breads. Next we had to cross over fences to get to Fad's home to fetch Fad and our cameraman Am. Ultra tight security abound. We zig-zagged Kampung Melayu to fetch Shah, and by 8 am, we were well on our way to Kuala Lumpur.

Stopped by a couple of times to have brunch, and arrived at the venue at 12.30 pm. Waited for 2 hours before the place opened- not bad, we were punctual. Did a soundcheck session and we waited. Long time.

We played at about 8 pm. The place was not that packed, but the crowd was awesome. The crowd rushed to the front immediately to the introductory riffings of Refuse/Resist. What a rush!

The combination of fatigue, stress, and adrenaline took its toll. Ajak shrieked and leaped all over the place energetically, eventhough slightly wobbly-footed due to lack of nutrients- it was almost 10 hours ago that we had a decent meal. Shah suddenly became the angriest guitarist one could ever imagine- we swear he was almost hissing at the crowd, stomping his feet all over the place, dislodging some cables in the process. Haris found out that the ceiling above was too low, and as to avoid potential damage, settled down in a very extraordinarily wide horse stance. That was all it took for the people to look at him in awe- he was big to begin with. Fad was possessed by drumsticks, to put it simply, drumming about in a feisty John Bonham-Mike Portnoy manner. Wonderful. Zaihas was already lying on the floor. Haris could only see his legs.

The crowd banged their heads to the music, and bodysurfing was everywhere! Hands grabbed Ajak to get copies of our free single CD-Rs. The sight was purely delirious. Andy from Flop Poppy dropped by to meet us up, too. Long time no see, big bro. So Ajak and Fad took a photo with him :)

We are really sorry that we were unable to watch our good friends Bannbodo play as we had to rush back to Johor Bahru as Fad needs to board the flight to Kota Kinabalu the very next morning. Sorry guys- we will certainly drop by again the next time to watch you guys play!

Wynken Delirium would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to these parties for the wonderful show- Amir & i-bands.net, Pekanmaya, Paul, Revenge, Bannbodo, Bad for the van, Am for the wonderful photo shots, all the bands who also played with us that night (more power to you all!), and most importantly, the BIG COOL SUPER CROWD WHO SUPPORTED US!!!!!

Moving forward, our drummer Fad will be in Sabah for the whole of March, and so the whole band will concentrate in completing the recording session- we have a couple of new songs to complete.

Johor: The Beautiful Sound

Hullo. We have submitted Jingling Nona to a compilation titled above. Fendy from Aspirasi Records is planning to release the CD sometime in Feb 2007.

This will be the first time Wynken Delirium will be featured in any compilation so far, and the best thing is that this compilation will also showcase a lot more fresh bands from Johor, so this will be a very good plan to expose these bands to the rest of the music community. The CD will be available from Aspirasi Records at the address specified below.

Oh, and by the way, Aspirasi Records will also need distributors to distribute their stuff all over the place, so do contact them if you are interested-

We will make sure all the tracks for The Alchemy Of Worlds are to be produced in the same sick, analog-sounding, crazy, speaker blasting, bottom heavy, humongous mix for your listening displeasure- yep, even the acoustic songs (yes? we do have acoustic songs, and no, they are not wimpy).

Once done, we'll get the album sent for mastering. We have to make sure that the mastering engineer responsible is as sick as us first in terms of musical sensibility before committing the CD master to him/her. If we cannot find such a heady person in Malaysia, we'll have to send the master CD to outside the country instead.

"Monkeys begone, evil primates!"

We had just posted raw mixes of 2 new songs off our upcoming album "The Alchemy Of Worlds" - Eyes Of Good and Jingling Nona - onto our Myspace site in mp3 format for free download.

The mixes are very raw, and we still need to correct some frequencies and volume levels here and there, but these should be good samplers of what we will offer in our debut album.

Soundwise, expect a very raw 70-ish heavy mix (Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple came to mind when we heard the raw mixes). Special thanks to Mr Bob from Rockin' Studio for the happening drum kit and super room-y miking (14 microphones were used!) during the drum tracks recording of these two songs.

Songwise, we leave it to you to judge :)

By the way, we have also posted fresh and chaotic videos of our live show during Celestica Johor's AD&D - just click on the Burnt Offerings link on the right to get there.

We are planning to add more stuff to this blog- we'll include a full-fledged list of the rig we use, and also some extra stuff which Wynken Delirium members have made up and consider to be worthy of attention :)

Seksun Array AD & D - Running With Skimpy Dresses To The Factory Bus!

Hi Low.

That was exactly what happened. We came to Puteri Pan Pacific, Johor Bahru at about 2 pm, set up our rig, and did a rough soundcheck. Things sounded OK, however, we needed to wait until 4 pm for the main guy with the speakers to arrive. The wait was a bit of a downer.

So we did a full soundcheck at 5 pm, and retired to the hotel room for shower and rest. Had an acoustic set at 8 pm, apart from a small power glitch, the show went fine, with good rounds of applause from the audience. Did a stoned rendition of Irwanshah's "Pencinta Wanita" in-between the songs- you should have heard how the audience laugh their bums out!

Next, we had the full electric show at 10.30 pm, it was the last event of the night. Experienced full house for the first time in our lives during 2 songs, flailing arms and legs everywhere! Came the third song, the floor suddenly became empty- what the heck? Turned out that the operators were running to the doors, lifting their skimpy dresses and high heels in order to catch the factory buses home! Darn.

Company should have asked the buses to pick the kids later to allow them to enjoy the full show. Well, what to do, and in order to take advantage of the free electricity, we played a doomed and fuzzed out version of Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water" to the hotel boys and girls who were cleaning up the mess.

Packed up the goods, and sent the whole bunch back to Rockin' Studio, and had a good night trying to sleep, watching Astro. A very big thank you to Mr Bob Rockin' for all the rig and affordable price, Mr Bad for the van, Mr Amri for the photo shots, Mr Zamri for the opportunity, and to Haris' little bro who stayed with us the whole evening :)

Oh, by the way, heard that we may be playing in Carrefour Johor Bahru's AD & D on 30-Jan-07. Looks like we are fast becoming an annual dinner favorite live attraction towards the end of this year. Lantak la. Wowee!

Celestica Annual Dinner 2006 Rocks!

Phew! We had just came back home from performing in front of 3000 people at Celestica's Annual Dinner 2006. Played on 2 stages- we managed to wreak havoc on both! Setup was okay, with good soundman manning the overall mix to the audience, and the supportive crowd kept us going. Our good friends had snapped some photos of the event, and these are available, as usual, via our Service Imagery page. We almost cracked our tired bones from jumping too much all over the stage!

Thanks a zillion to Celestica Johor for the opportunity and invitation and for all the free jamming sessions- Celestica Rocks! A very special thanks to Mr Ayub, without which we will never have garnered such a fantastic experience!

By the way, we had just received an invitation from Seksun Array to perform a few acoustic/unplugged sets for their AD&D on 24-Dec evening. Will keep you posted of the full details on that one once available.

Asian Beat 2006

Yep. Just came back from playing at Asian Beat 2006 heats. Did not get through to the finals, but so did a number of very good bands we know. Dunno the reason- the judges were looking for sellable bands maybe? Oh, check out some photos of our live performance this afternoon in the Service Imagery section. Not much photos, but those are what we managed to capture. We personally think that we played the best in Asian Beat 2006 today compared to all our live shows so far. Look at how we have grown! There were talks with Horizone on doing a split CD, let's see how this will materialize. Till then :)

Hye.

Just grabbed the Oct 2006 ROTTW issue. It was fun being able to read about each of the bands competing in Road To ROTTW Soundstage. A bit amused of what was written about Wynken Delirium - "rock mereka agak kontang dari kemewahan melodik". What was that?

Maybe this was due to the "put the drum forward, everything else to the back" mixing strategy of the soundman that night. The guitarist and the bassist could barely hear themselves that night. We bet we sounded like kompang boys that night- all percussion, and not much anything else. What to do... however, the good thing was that, it also lended to the superb comment about the drummer - "bijak mengawal ritma". Thanks for that one! :)

No offense, Mr. Soundman, but we still think that we could not hear ourselves much that night! Hahaha! Don't get angry, we are all fasting- Ramadhan Karim and/or Selamat Berpuasa to all our Muslim brothers!

By the way, gotta love the photo section- that was hilarious!

Some Small Updates!

Hell-o. We have updated the 2nd set of our Road To ROTTW Soundstage up the Service Imagery section - check 'em out.

By the way, got news that there will be 2 sessions of Asian Beat 2006 this year, one hosted by C&M on 11-Nov, and another one hosted by Yamaha Music on 18-Nov. We will be joining both.

As far as our recording sessions go, we have recorded some bass, guitar, and vocals for Jingling Nona, Eyes Of Good, and Sweetsop Highway. Work is still in progress- we target to release the album in Q4 2007. No need to rush :)

Amboi! We have added a new section, Delirious Extra Extra! to this blog page. It will house all of scanned articles on our beloved band Wynken Delirium.

For a start, we have included ROTTW's review of the old EP in there. More stuff coming up as soon as we have more articles to post up.

Uiks. We have got lotsa updates for you rice-eaters out there.

For a start, we just came back from playing @ Road To ROTTW Soundstage 2006 at CineLeisure, Kota Damansara. It was a good and fun experience despite some problems which we believe can be improved in the next round. We have a bunch of photos taken from 2 digital cameras that evening, too bad we only managed to extract one set first, as we will need the special USB cable for the other digital camera. No worries, we are working on that one. Take a peek at our Service Imagery section (see right of page) of what we managed to upload so far of the show :)

Special thanks to Haris' two good lady friends for the photo-snapping help and also for showing us around and waiting on us throughout the whole day! We might be lost in KL if not for you ladies. A deep THANK YOU from the depth of our hearts.

Secondly, our EP got featured in Sept 2006 ROTTW! Go grab a copy, make ROTTW richer, and read about the review inside the issue. Will scan the article out and post it up this page once done :)

Thirdly, we will have a show in Kulai, Johor on 17th September, organized by our dear friend Bob Kulai from the super grindcore band Damokis. We heard it will be sponsored by Livita. Will let you all know the accurate address of the venue.

Hey ho hey ho. We have some updates for ya. First of all, we are getting ready for next week's Road To Soundstage in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, details had been conveyed earlier in an earlier blog, so do drop by and watch us play! Second, we have uploaded some videos of the Rock Without Drugs showcase in Dataran Bandaraya, Johor Bahru (that was back in June) onto the Burnt Offerings page (click on the link on the right to get there).

Thirdly, we have also posted some quirky photos out of boredom up our Imagery Service page, take a look at those as well. Fourth, Asian Beat 2006 is coming up, and we are positive about joining it. We are also in progress of recording our stuff and as we are also in the middle of collecting cash to make sure we can get the drums recorded the best we could, we are targeting to get everything completed by mid of 2007. No problem about recording guitars, bass, and vocals though, Chicken Coop Studio is here to stay.

CitraWarna Expo & Fair @ Danga Bay

Our good friend Bob from Rockin' Studio just SMS-ed us this morning about another show in Danga Bay. The show will last from now until end of July, from 2 pm to 12 midnite daily. We are invited. Yay yay!

Now let us plan the arrangement of songs we will play. Most likely we will play on 30th or 31st evening. Will confirm time and date :)

Fiesta Perpaduan

Such a positive name for a show. We received a call from Bob Rockin' about 2 days back about a show on 30-Jun and 1-Jul in conjuction with UMNO Pasir Gudang's 60th anniversary celebration. Thanks to him and Rockin' Studio, we got to play in another show this week! Yay!

We started playing at 9.00 pm last night (1-Jul). Setup was minimal but it sounded great :)

Ya! We had lots of fun last night playing @ Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru in the Rock Without Drugs showcase. We were originally the fourth band in the list, but the first band pulled out without notice/last minute, and so we ended up playing third.

Played Jingling Nona, Sweetsop Highway, and Eyes Of Good in front of quite a healthy number of people, and we were extremely energetic that night. Ajak was running all over the place like an Axl Rose/Flash Gordon hybrid, Zaihas was bouncing around like a Gummy Bear, Haris was jumping up and down the stage like a mammoth on too much coffee, Shah showed his best guitarman swagger and techniques and keeping his cool at the same time all the while (he could not resist jumping around too at times, though), and Fad, to put it simply, whacked the skins and the cymbals so powerful that he looked like he's almost flying off the stage!

We would like to thank Ali/Agensi Anti-Dadah Kebangsaan/Ahhu Music for the superb opportunity and for organizing such a happening show, Countach Studio (Aie, Wek) for the 50% jamming discount and the rig, Amree for the superb photo shots, and of course, all the friends, acquaintances, and all the people present at the show.

More power to you all and let's have more shows like this in the future!

Stoning Around Without Drugs

Heyyo. We have managed to secure a spot in Rock Without Drugs show in Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru on 26-June-2006. Wynken Delirium will be performing 3 of our songs in their inebriated nature. Not sure of our time slot yet, but the show will run from 8.30 pm to 11.00 pm on a Monday evening. Bleurgh.

The show will be organized by Agensi Anti Dadah Kebangsaan (Johor) and Ahahu Music. The purpose of the show is to promote anti-drug abuse awareness. The official studio will be Countach Studio, hence the opportunity- thanks Ali!

No worries, none of us do drugs, except when prescribed by doctor as a pretext to go on medical leave. Yay.

Heyyo. Just testing to see if we can get some videos uploaded into our Myspace page.

We are in the middle of transferring some of Wynken's jamming sessions and live shows to WMV format. We know, WMV conversion results in reduced quality videos, but since the finished files will be very small in size, we can get more stuff uploaded to Myspace. This should be much more economical in terms of memory space compared to having just one very good video of us playing/making noise/stumbling about/whatever in MPEG or AVI format and not being able to upload more stuff later.

ROTTW Road To Soundstage 2006

Wynken Delirium is looking forward to join this year's Road To Soundstage, as we missed out last year's due to some mental illness (not that we are any sober nowadays). Heard that the event will be in late June or early July, so we have 4 weeks left to practice.

Will alert confirmed date and venue. Hopefully, see you there!
